The National College Football Awards association is proud to present its national players of the week from 13 of its member awards for the weekend of Sept. 7.
This marks the second season the NCFAA has streamlined the process to release each of these weekly honors each week. Going forward, NCFAA players of the week will be announced each Tuesday at Noon ET through the remainder of the regular season.
In all, 14 total players are honored this week led by Clemson QB Cade Klubnik and Illinois DB Xavier Scott.
Following are the NCFAA National Players of the Week:
- Bednarik Award (Defensive Player): Xavier Scott, Illinois (DB)
- Bronko Nagurski Trophy (Defensive Player): Devonte O’Malley, NIU (DT)
- Burlsworth Trophy (Walk-On): Treshaun Ward, Boston College (RB)
- Davey O’Brien Award (Quarterback): Cade Klubnik, Clemson
- Doak Walker Award (Running Back): Cam Skattebo, Arizona State
- John Mackey Award (Tight End): Tyler Warren, Penn State
- Lou Groza Award (Kicker): Collin Rogers, SMU; Ben Sauls, Pitt; Kanon Woodill, NIU
- Maxwell Award (Overall Player): Quinn Ewers, Texas (QB)
- Outland Trophy (Interior Lineman): Jake Majors, Texas (C)
- Paul Hornung Award (All-Purpose Player): Brennan Presley, Oklahoma State (WR)
- Paycom Jim Thorpe Award (Defensive Back): Andrew Mukuba, Texas
- Ray Guy Award (Punter): Riley Thompson, Penn State
- Walter Camp Award (Overall Player): Offensive: Cade Klubnik, Clemson (QB); Defensive: Xavier Scott, Illinois (DB)
Founded in 1997, the National College Football Awards Association includes college football’s most prestigious awards and its 24 awards have honored more than 900 recipients dating back to 1935.
