The National College Football Awards association is proud to present its national players of the week from 13 of its member awards for the weekend of Sept. 28.
This marks the second season the NCFAA has streamlined the process to release each of these weekly honors each week. Going forward, NCFAA players of the week will be announced each Tuesday at Noon ET through the remainder of the regular season.
In all, 12 total players are honored this week led by Alabama QB Jalen Milroe and Penn State DE Abdul Carter.
Following are the NCFAA National Players of the Week:
- Bednarik Award (Defensive Player): Abdul Carter, Penn State (DE)
- Bronko Nagurski Trophy (Defensive Player): Abdul Carter, Penn State (DE)
- Burlsworth Trophy (Walk-On): Jordan Faison, Notre Dame (WR)
- Davey O’Brien Award (Quarterback): Jalen Milroe, Alabama
- Doak Walker Award (Running Back): Ashton Jeanty, Boise State
- John Mackey Award (Tight End): Harold Fannin, Bowling Green
- Lou Groza Award (Kicker): Dom Dzioban, Miami (Ohio); Tyler Loop, Arizona; Tristan Mattson, Central Michigan
- Maxwell Award (Overall Player): Jalen Milroe, Alabama (QB)
- Outland Trophy (Interior Lineman): Howard Cross III, Notre Dame (DT)
- Paul Hornung Award (All-Purpose Player): Travis Hunter, Colorado (WR/CB)
- Paycom Jim Thorpe Award (Defensive Back): Tacario Davis, Arizona
- Ray Guy Award (Punter): Caden Noonkester, NC State
- Walter Camp Award (Overall Player): Offensive: Jalen Milroe, Alabama (QB); Defensive: Donovan Ezeiruaku, Boston College (DE)
Founded in 1997, the National College Football Awards Association includes college football’s most prestigious awards and its 24 awards have honored more than 900 recipients dating back to 1935.
